Your roof report supplies geometry. You supply the scope.
A usable roof measurement report can support a Xactimate roof estimate when the contractor also identifies the work, materials and field conditions. SaguaroScope reviews the report with your scope and photos, then confirms the writing assignment. Reported roof area, pitch and edge lengths help build quantities; they do not automatically establish damage, replacement extent or every operation to include.

Send the complete report, not just the total area
Provide the readable report with its property address, report date or identifier, roof diagrams and measurement pages. Report contents vary by provider and product. A summary may not contain the facet details or edge classifications needed for the scope you want written.
For example, EagleView’s Premium Report guide shows length, pitch and area diagrams plus a summary. This illustrates the kind of geometry a report can supply; it is not a requirement to buy that provider’s product. The team reviews the actual report and the records available for your job.
Separate measurements from repair decisions

Add a short roof scope and supporting photos
Use the report’s slope or facet labels when possible. A clear assignment identifies the operation, location, material and known extent, instead of asking the estimator to infer the entire job from a roof diagram.
- Confirm the correct structure and included roof sections, including any detached building that needs a separate scope.
- Describe the existing material and the proposed roofing system; identify layers or substrate conditions only when documented.
- List included edge work, flashing, penetrations, accessories and other components your team has evaluated.
- Provide overall and close-up photos that connect conditions to the affected slopes or components.
- Identify exclusions, unresolved field questions and any difference between the report and the current structure.
- Include project-specific manufacturer instructions or other supporting records when they are relevant to a requested detail. A component on a diagram is not automatically a required replacement.
Resolve conflicting dimensions before writing
If field measurements and the report disagree, mark the location and both values rather than silently choosing one. Explain whether the difference involves an added structure, an excluded area, a roof change or an unresolved measurement. Staff can ask a focused question; your team confirms the field facts.
Do not treat a suggested waste allowance or a roof-area summary as approval of every estimate quantity. The quantity must fit the documented material, operation and accepted scope. This guide does not prescribe a universal waste percentage or installation rule.
From the report to your finished file
Staff checks the report, measurements, scope and photos for fit and completeness, then confirms the service, price and delivery target. SaguaroScope prepares the accepted roof estimate and corresponding sketch, with the ESX/PDF deliverables included in the assignment. Remote service is subject to file fit and service-area availability.
Estimate Only excludes F9 notes. When accepted F9 Documentation is needed, the notes are written into the estimate and delivered with it. The base estimate fee is paid at handoff before final release for standard accounts. The later F9 percentage or minimum is separate, follows the reported final outcome and verification, and receives no credit from the estimate fee. Approved periodic terms remain applicable.
The PSO or applicable standing annual terms establish the authorization. Your company checks and approves the final scope and controls submission. SaguaroScope does not determine coverage, represent the insured, negotiate the claim or guarantee approval.
Questions contractors ask
Can you write a Xactimate estimate from my roof measurement report?
A usable report can support the estimate when paired with a contractor-defined scope and enough field records. Staff reviews the actual file and confirms the accepted service before production.
Does the report have to come from a particular company?
No single brand is required by this guide. Send the readable report you have; staff confirms whether its detail and format are usable for the requested assignment.
Is the total square count enough?
Usually it does not explain the complete assignment. Send the available facet, pitch and length information plus the scope, materials and supporting photos so the team can identify missing detail.
Can a report prove the roof needs replacement?
A geometry report does not establish that conclusion by itself. The contractor supplies documented conditions and repair decisions; coverage and carrier approval are separate.
What if my field measurements disagree with the report?
Identify the affected area, both values and any known reason for the difference. Staff flags the conflict for contractor confirmation rather than inventing a resolution.
Do I need a carrier estimate for roof estimate writing?
A carrier estimate is not required for writing a defined contractor scope. Provide the written carrier baseline when the assignment includes a comparison or F9 fee basis that depends on it.
